Return to Dancing Guidance

Good news - Branches and SCD clubs have been slowly returning to dancing classes and events over the past few months (hooray !), although it remains important for all activity to be consistent with current Scottish Government guidance.
Please click here to view the updated RSCDS Return to Dancing Guidance (Aug. 2021).

We've just heard that the Dingwall SCD Club has decided to resume dancing at a new time and new venue.
The time - Friday afternoons between 1400h-1600h, starting 19 November;
The venue - the Pavilion at the Ben Wyvis Hotel in Strathpeffer (served by 27 bus from Inverness).

Similar Covid conditions apply to attendees to this class as they currently do to other classes in the area.
If you are interested in attending the first class on 19th, please let the group know by Monday 15th November. Once the classes are up and running, prior notice of attendance will not be necessary.

Inverness Music Festival 2022

We're delighted to be able to tell you that Scottish Country Dancing will be returning to next year's Centenary Music Festival, although things will be a little different this year.
Because SCD groups haven't been back dancing long (if at all), the Festival will be putting an emphasis on the dance rather than the dancing. The challenge is for groups to create, submit and demonstrate a dance to celebrate the Festival's Centenary instead of demonstrating published dances.
Full details can be found in the Festival Syllabus, which you can see by clicking here (the SCD Section is on the last couple of pages).
Entries are needed by 17th December; the written dance instructions must be uploaded by 20th January.

Meanwhile ...

From the Headquarters website, you can watch the Society's virtual AGM which took place on 7th November 2020 and the evening dance (also virtual) - both provide very interesting viewing.

IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES OF SOCIAL ISOLATION & DISTANCING ...
if any of our members or SCD friends needs any help with shopping etc (or just a friendly phone call), please drop us a message using the Contact page and we'll see what we can do !

While a large number of SCD Rallies, Dances and Classes across the area have been cancelled, it is pleasing to note that some groups are raising their head over the parapet ...  (see Dance Diary).

News from Mini-Crib (03/11/21)

The November edition of MiniCrib is available now.
The last month has been really busy for the MiniCrib Team.  We've added 30 new cribs, as well as a whole load of amendments to our existing cribs suggested by MiniCrib users.
Many thanks to all those who have contacted us to suggest these improvements - we really do rely on your help to ensure that our cribs meet the needs of dancers around the world.

You can download this latest edition from our usual download page: www.minicrib.org.uk.

By the volume of email we have received recently, it is obvious that classes, clubs and dance groups around the world are up and running after the 18 months or so of inactivity.  We hope your members are keeping well and are enjoying their dancing again. so "Stay calm and keep on dancing!"

If you have an Android or Apple iOS smartphone or tablet, you may be interested to know that an "MiniCrib App" is now available. The app is called "Mobile SCD Cribs" and you can read more about the app and also find the links to it on Google Play or Apple App Store here -  http://www.minicrib.org.uk/minicrib-app.html
