Return to Dancing Guidance

Good news - Branches and SCD clubs have been slowly returning to dancing classes and events over the past few months (hooray !), although it remains important for all activity to be consistent with current Scottish Government guidance.
Please click here to view the updated RSCDS Return to Dancing Guidance (Aug. 2021).

We've just heard that the Dingwall SCD Club has decided to resume dancing at a new time and new venue.
The time - Friday afternoons between 1400h-1600h, starting 19 November;
The venue - the Pavilion at the Ben Wyvis Hotel in Strathpeffer (served by 27 bus from Inverness).

Similar Covid conditions apply to attendees to this class as they currently do to other classes in the area.
If you are interested in attending the first class on 19th, please let the group know by Monday 15th November. Once the classes are up and running, prior notice of attendance will not be necessary.

Inverness Music Festival 2022

We're delighted to be able to tell you that Scottish Country Dancing will be returning to next year's Centenary Music Festival, although things will be a little different this year.
Because SCD groups haven't been back dancing long (if at all), the Festival will be putting an emphasis on the dance rather than the dancing. The challenge is for groups to create, submit and demonstrate a dance to celebrate the Festival's Centenary instead of demonstrating published dances.
Full details can be found in the Festival Syllabus, which you can see by clicking here (the SCD Section is on the last couple of pages).
Entries are needed by 17th December; the written dance instructions must be uploaded by 20th January.

Meanwhile ...

News from Mini-Crib (10/01/22)

Let's dance in 2022!

I hope it isn't too late to wish you all a very Happy New Year - we hope that we all will be able to return to normal life and our Scottish Country Dancing soon - if anyone can remember what "normal" was like!

During December the MiniCrib Team worked hard on crib writing, as all our dance events were cancelled.  We have added around 40 new cribs to our collection, with the bulk of those being from "Célébrations", a book of dances devised by Holly Boyd.

We were delighted to be invited to publish a collection of dances devised by Nan Lawson (Glasgow).  You can find the original book of dances at http://www.minicrib.org.uk/publish.html#WestWynd It is free to download.  We hope to have cribs written for all the dances in the book in the February update.

If you have celebrations planned for Burns Night - enjoy!

Best regards,

The MiniCrib Team
