Good news - we have been advised that outdoor Scottish country dancing can restart in Scotland, providing all activity is consistent with current Scottish Government guidance.

On-going News ...

Hopefully members have been receiving the RSCDS weekly emails with news and links to the online RSCDS classes, held on Zoom at 7pm each Wednesday evening ?

It is good to be able to join in with dancers from around the world for the class with a mystery teacher each week, and the fortnightly 'Dance Scottish at Home' (DSAH) email is packed with information, music, puzzles etc to keep everyone interested and amused.

You can watch the classes later (at a time to suit you) using the email link which is sent the following Friday afternoon, or via the RSCDS Headquarters website (www.rscds.org).

If you have not been receiving these emails (or the electronic version of the Dancer magazine, issued recently), it may be that your address is not registered with HQ. If this is the case, please let us know via our Contact Us page and we'll try to sort this out for you.

From the Headquarters website, you can also watch the Society's virtual AGM which took place on 7th November 2020 and the evening dance (also virtual) - both provide very interesting viewing.

IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES OF SOCIAL ISOLATION & DISTANCING ...
if any of our members or SCD friends needs any help with shopping etc (or just a friendly phone call), please drop us a message using the Contact page and we'll see what we can do !

A large number of SCD Rallies, Dances and Classes across the area remain cancelled (see Dance Diary).

News from Mini-Crib (14/8/21)

"Lockdown" restrictions have recently been much reduced or even ended in the nations of the UK leading to many dance classes and clubs looking seriously at restarting dance activities in the near future.  Since the "lockdown" began in in March 2020, our team have spent the time finding dances to crib - our collection of cribs now numbers around 6150.  So there is plenty of choice, new dances to supplement the old favourites.

You can download the latest MiniCrib edition (August 2021) from our website as usual (www.minicrib.org.uk).

If you have an Android or Apple iOS smartphone or tablet, you may be interested to know that an "MiniCrib App" is now available. Developed by Charles Inglis (Ottawa, Canada), the app is really easy to use - simply enter a few letters from the title of the dance or dances you want and they will load very quickly.  As well as the MiniCrib description for the dance(s), the app also displays a Keith Rose diagram and a video (if available).

The app is called "Mobile SCD Cribs" and you can read more about the app and also find the links to it on Google Play or Apple App Store here -  http://www.minicrib.org.uk/minicrib-app.html

In the meantime, keep well, keep safe,

Best regards,
The MiniCrib Team
